Individual therapy for children, adolescents and adults

Taking the first step towards starting therapy is a life-changing, brave, and worthwhile move! All of the research shows that the most important part of therapy is to find a clinician who is a good fit for your needs and that brings you comfort in sharing and opening up about difficult topics. At Blossoming Minds Psychological Services PC, we strive to provide high quality, professional, validating therapeutic services both in person at our office in Roseville and virtually throughout the state of California. Our team members see individuals as young as three years old and all through adulthood.

Common reasons to start therapy include: a major life event or change (such as a move, job loss or new job, pregnancy, postpartum, relationship breakup or beginning, starting school, friendship issues, etc.), new or worsening symptoms over time, repetitive difficulties coping with symptoms, and/or desiring to have a safe space to do self-exploration. Through the therapeutic process, self-exploration and building self-awareness are a natural part of the experience. Individuals find that therapy tends to lead to increased awareness of their feelings and thoughts, increased ability to make connections between interpersonal dynamics or patterns in relationships, and increased curiosity about one’s past and present.

Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all though, and at Blossoming Minds Psychological Services PC our clinicians seek to have a trustworthy, respectful, professional relationship with our clients where open conversations happen and feedback can be provided to improve the therapeutic journey.

As a whole, the clinicians at Blossoming Minds Psychological Services PC are highly trained in providing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing, relational therapy, and family systems therapy; using an integration of these different approaches and theories helps us to meet you where you are at throughout the therapeutic process.

Child & Adult Therapy

For children and adolescents, we offer in-person play therapy services at our office in Roseville. We also offer virtual therapy across the state of California for teens who are 16 and older, or for younger adolescents depending on their developmental level. The language of children is play, and that means that we utilize games, arts and crafts, creative writing, and storytelling to help children express their emotions and to process their experiences. Throughout the therapy process we would be checking in about goals, identifying patterns of behavior, labelling common emotions, coming up with creative ways to incorporate therapy skills at home and school, and noticing even small shifts in the right direction. Parents are naturally included in child therapy through separate parent meetings as needed and appropriate based on the child’s age and developmental level. Some children and adolescents feel more comfortable having a parent in the room during sessions and we are always supportive of this to ensure that children feel safe and comfortable to participate in treatment.

For adults, we offer in-person therapy at our office in Roseville or virtual therapy throughout the state of California (due to licensing laws, all virtual session clients must be physically in California during any scheduled visits). Adult individual therapy sessions often include a check-in process at the beginning to discuss how you have been between visits and to identify any “agenda items” you may wish to chat about during your session. Then, throughout your therapy session your therapist would be listening for themes and patterns that help you move towards your goals or that may be barriers to your progress. As therapists, we are walking alongside you on your personal mental health journey, rather than leading it for you. That means that we are active listeners, validating, and intentional in our approach to your treatment. Each client we see is a unique individual with unique needs, and we adjust our therapeutic approach based on your needs and goals.
